The shortage of skilled workers is becoming an increasingly important issue in the manufacturing industry. A large percentage of employees will retire in the next few years, and it will be a significant challenge to find new and qualified successors. Therefore, it is now a matter of quickly counteracting this development as the shortage of experienced employees is having a negative impact on the manufacturing sector.

The know-how that skilled workers have acquired over many years is gradually being lost. For companies, the loss can be enormous if they do not take countermeasures now. Therefore, manufacturers should focus on digitalization, process optimization and automation. This applies to small and medium-sized companies as well as large enterprises. Manufacturers need to adapt their processes to changing situations and this requires businesses to analyze, define and often reorganize their structures and processes. These challenges can only be mastered with state-of-the-art technologies.

An innovative CAM solution plays a decisive role here. With CAM software, manufacturing knowledge is stored digitally and is thus retrievable and available at any time. Standardization and automation of programming processes represent an important solution strategy. Ultimately, this always leads to process optimization for improved efficiency. Customers need to continually produce components faster with better quality and at a lower cost. The automation and optimization idea has already been adopted by many companies from all industries. OPEN MIND can relate to this trend as it has been receiving increasing levels of enquiries regarding automation technologies worldwide for years.

In our hyperMILL® software, we offer numerous standard options for simplifying and automating CAD/CAM programming. hyperMILL® has a modular structure and is therefore extremely flexible. This means that users are very easily and quickly able to create procedures that are perfectly adapted to the situation at hand. This is something that our customers appreciate. Users can easily standardize, automate and optimize the programming of complex components and the setup of complex processes with hyperMILL®. Errors are avoided because strategies and technologies that have been tried and tested once, can be easily reused throughout the company. hyperMILL® relieves users of mundane routines and allows them to devote themselves to more demanding tasks. This also helps to prevent a shortage of skilled workers, as existing manufacturing knowledge is not lost, and tasks are performed automatically.

To meet the increasing demands of customers, CAM manufacturers must reposition themselves. At OPEN MIND, we are continuously developing. We started to set our internal course very early on so that we can always deliver the latest cutting-edge functions and technologies to our users. The concept of leading with innovation has been firmly anchored at OPEN MIND since the beginning. That’s why we have an innovation team and feature teams that deal with upcoming topics at an early stage. This enables us to remain an innovation leader. We have also strengthened product development and quality assurance to provide users with high-quality solutions, even faster. So, customers can always work with the latest technologies, and are more productive with higher quality levels.

Another point that is becoming increasingly important is the service concept. It is not enough to just deliver new technologies. Users should be able to access a wide range of services. To this end, we have various topics to offer. First and foremost, there is on-site customer support by qualified OPEN MIND employees, and then we have a modular training concept, which is also online. There are also detailed training updates for each new release, our customer portal, and native language support in the countries. These are just some of the activities we offer our customers to ensure that their production runs smoothly.
