Sanjay Gangal interviews Paulina Tellebo, Marketing-communication Manager of Tacton at SolidWorks world

Sanjay : Can you tell our audience a little about Tacton.

Paulina : Tacton is a world leader in software solutions for the manufacturing industry. We support manufacturers across the globe with digitalizing their sales process and connecting that to product design, and order fulfillment. We specifically serve manufacturers with really complex products, so that's our area of expertise.

As a leader in configure price quote (CPQ), we began in Sweden in 1987. With extensive industry expertise, we understand the challenges of high variance, high complexity manufacturing like no one else. We see the opportunities of tomorrow, anticipating the challenges of Industry 4.0. Furthermore, Gartner has recognized Tacton CPQ as the go-to vendor for manufacturers in the following areas:

• Machinery
• Production lines
• Power generation
• Medtech equipment
• Heavy vehicles and equipment
• Air and fluid processing

Sanjay : What is currently happening in the manufacturing industry?

Paulina : Right now, the industry is going through a big transformation and it really comes down to two things. The first is that competition is fierce and Western manufacturers can no longer compete on just price, but rather on value. That really brings me to the second theme, which is putting the customer at the center of the process. That means, being able to deliver products that exactly meet your customer's needs, and being able to do it faster than the competition.

Sanjay : What are you showcasing here at SolidWorks World this year?

Paulina : This year we're showcasing the latest addition to our design automation product suite, which is called Tacton Design Automation. It's really a next level design automation tool. It enables teams to collaborate on projects, bringing together or bridging the gap between product designers, engineers and technical sales. So that they all have access to the same data and making sure that all customer requirements are taken into account.

Tacton's Design Automation reduces the time from design to fulfillment, freeing up teams and helping to drive revenue growth. Fully embedded within SOLIDWORKS, Tacton Design Automation lets customers automatically generate customized 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, interactively capture customer requirements, and receive feedback on incompatible choices.

Sanjay : What exactly does the Tacton Design Automation do?

Paulina : Basically, it enables teams to collaborate and work on projects and products for customers. Basically, technical sales can come with customer requirements that are non-technical, then we can have engineers and designers actually translate that (the technical bits) into a finished product. All of this happens 100% in the cloud, it's software as a service, so subscription-based, which means that everything happens in real time. The collaboration frees the team from manual hand-overs, manual processes, and basically frees up the team to innovate.

Sanjay : What should we expect from Tacton in the near-term future?

Paulina : I would say the biggest challenge and change that we're seeing is, putting the customer at the center of the process. And making sure, that all customer requirements are met in the final product which usually come with high expectations. It's a very complicated task for manufacturers of complex products. So putting the customer at the heart of the process and giving them a great customer experience is definitely what's next for the manufacturing industry.

Sanjay : What makes Tacton's solution unique and differentiated in the market place?

Paulina : Our area of expertise is really the manufacturing industry. We have over 20 years in the industry and we're used to working with truly global manufacturing companies, including really big ones. Our area of expertise is really the manufacturing industry, and then the level of complexity that our tools can handle.

Sanjay : What is the best way for people to find out more about Tacton on the internet?

Paulina : Anyone interested should visit our website www.tacton.com to find out more.
