NCTA President Joan Myers commented on Wylie's appointment, "Once in North Carolina, Janet's hard work, experience and leadership quickly earned her a position on the NCTA Board of Directors. Her experience in the Defense and Security arena was tremendously helpful in shaping NCTA's vision of building a defense and security cluster in North Carolina. We are excited about her leadership in 2006."
Wylie helped build the NCTA defense and security committee that focuses on "bringing markets to members" by providing NCTA member companies chances to interact with key federal governmental agencies for possible business opportunities. She also helped guide the strategic vision of creating a defense and security incubator in North Carolina that will be based on a channel partner concept that includes both small and large companies. Named to the "Rapid Deployment Team" immediately after NCTA secured the funding for the incubator, Wylie helped move the statewide innovation asset forward to a reality.
When asked about her role as Chair, Wylie commented, "NCTA is a great organization for those companies wishing to collaborate, build opportunity, and grow the IT industry in North Carolina. I'm honored to have been selected as this year's Chair, and I'm delighted to be working with other North Carolina technology companies to positively impact our state's economy."
