SME's Automation & Assembly Summit: Achieving World-Class Manufacturing With Advanced Automation

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) will bring the 2nd Annual Automation & Assembly Summit, "Achieving World Class Manufacturing with Advanced Automation," to the Sheraton West Port Hotel, Lakeside Chalet, St. Louis, Mo., on April 18-20, 2005. Smart manufacturers need to be lean, flexible and agile and U.S. companies need to improve manufacturing efficiency to improve their competitiveness. The 2nd Automation & Assembly Summit offers solutions for manufacturers.

The Automation & Assembly Summit is structured and developed around a two- day conference with exhibits and will offer the latest research technologies in automation and assembly and management strategies to give industry a competitive advantage -- globally. The conference is highlighted by more than 50 technical sessions, keynote presentations from government and industry, technology exhibits, plant tours of Ford Motor Company, and the Boeing Company, and a networking reception. SME has also scheduled a Student Summit to provide St. Louis high school students and educators with an opportunity to learn more about exciting career opportunities in advanced manufacturing.

The Automation & Assembly Conference will bring together industry experts and successful end-users. SME Chapter 17, a group of manufacturing professionals representing local industry and associations, will be involved in hosting 200 high school students and teachers from the St. Louis metropolitan area.
