GDA Technologies to collaborate on standards for integrated hardware and software and solutions using Power Architecture technology

PISCATAWAY, N.J., — June 18, 2009 — Power.org, the organization that promotes and develops standards for Power Architecture® technology, today announced that GDA Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of configurable, reliable and production-proven Intellectual Property (IP), has joined Power.org as a Participant member. GDA Technologies will take an active role in developing a platform standard for collaborative hardware and software solutions.

"With advancement of new technology, customers are in need of a complete Power Architecture solution. GDA Technologies, by focusing on both hardware and software, is in a unique position to bring a comprehensive solution and extraordinary value to the Power Architecture ecosystem," said Power.org CTO, Kaveh Massoudian.

In joining Power.org, GDA Technologies underscores the growing momentum for collaboratively developed standards that drive integrated hardware and software and solutions using Power Architecture technology. Increasingly, developers rely on solutions that combine commercially available hardware and software as the foundation for innovative products. With GDA Technologies and other members of the Power Architecture community, Power.org is addressing an overall platform standard to drive high performing, reliable solution components that minimize integration, upgrade and maintenance challenges.

"We have a strong track record of developing PowerPC based SOC and system level solutions," said Ravi Thummarukudy, VP&GM IC solutions division at GDA Technologies. "Our participation in Power.org allows us to continue our active role within the Power Architecture community and to enable chip and system level productization around advanced PowerPC architectures. We look forward to contribute in its future evolution."

GDA Technologies will strengthen the Power Architecture roadmap by providing licenses for its PowerPC 460S, a high-performance CPU core, and its PowerPC 405, a medium-performance CPU core. Both cores are cache configurable to meet the specific requirements of the SoC application, and include a set of latency-sensitive native CoreConnect peripherals with a PowerPC license. An optional floating point unit is available for the 460S.
