Concept Engineering Announces 20th Anniversary

2010 marks 17th consecutive year of profitability for developer of visualization and debugging technology

FREIBURG, Germany — (BUSINESS WIRE) — December 21, 2010 — Concept Engineering, developer of visualization and debugging technology for the electronic design automation (EDA) market, celebrates the 20th year of providing customers with leading-edge visualization and debugging technology. The company attributes its success and its 17th consecutive year of profitability to innovative technology and long-term commitment to creating value for customers.

Today, more than 35 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) use Concept’s schematic generation and visualization technology -- Nlview™ -- as part of their products or design flows. Of the top 20 semiconductor companies, 18 use debugging tools from Concept -- SpiceVision® PRO or GateVision® PRO or RTLvision® PRO. Concept Engineering’s transistor-level debugging tool, SpiceVision PRO, is in use at more than 100 semiconductor and electronics companies world-wide.

Founders Gerhard Angst, president and CEO, and Lothar Linhard, CTO and vice president of engineering, have been managing the company since inception in 1990. “With 17 years of profitability and zero debt, the company has been able to maintain a very independent and innovative start-up-like environment,” said Gerhard Angst. “We’ve always been committed to keeping customers happy for the long term, and are fortunate in having a group of passionate and highly motivated employees with the enthusiasm to create leading-edge software. The most rewarding aspect of the past 20 years has been the confidence our growing customer base has shown in the company and our software.”

“A worldwide base of customers that continue to invest in successive Concept Engineering speaks to our continuing commitment to technology leadership,” said Lothar Linhard. “We are committed to innovation, now providing visualization technology for all design levels, including system level, RTL level, gate level and transistor level.”

In 2007, Concept Engineering was singled out by EDAcentrum, an independent association dedicated to the promotion of research and development in EDA, to receive the EDA Achievement Award for achievements in research and development. Each year the EDA Achievement Award is given by EDAcentrum to a team or individual who reached excellent results in research or development within the EDA field and who contributed to the improvements within the Ekompass Project. (Ekompass is a funding program set up by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to stimulate EDA research. Ekompass means "design platform for complex applied systems and circuits in microelectronics" in German.).
