3D Systems Offers High-Speed Package Upgrades for SLS Systems

VALENCIA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 7, 2003--3D Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: TDSCE) announced that it will offer owners of the Vanguard SLS(R) system and selected Sinterstation 2500plus an upgrade option to a certified Vanguard HS SLS system beginning September 2003. The upgrade package will provide additional throughput and applications benefits. The package includes an upgrade to the latest LS software (LS 3.2), 100W laser system and the Celerity(TM) Beam Delivery System (BDS), and will carry the HS symbol to indicate the system has been upgraded by 3D Systems Engineering and is in full conformity with HS capability.

"At 3D Systems, we are committed to providing our customers with upgrade capability as it becomes available to enable existing customers as well as new customers access to the latest technology. We are pleased to provide an upgrade path to the Vanguard HS SLS system for our 2500plus and Vanguard customers," said Mervyn Rudgley, senior director product management for 3D Systems. "Upgrade customers should see up to 80% increase in build speed for DuraForm(TM) GF and PA material users, thus offering a significant increase in productivity."

The upgrade path will be available for existing systems which currently have 25W, 50W or 100W laser systems, though early Sinterstation 2500plus systems are not compatible with this upgrade. Customers with 3D Systems maintenance programs are eligible for significant discounts on these upgrades. Current Vanguard and Sinterstation 2500plus owners should contact their local 3D Systems representative for more information and availability.

About 3D Systems

Founded in 1986, 3D Systems(R), the solid imaging company(SM), provides solid imaging products and solutions that reduce the time and cost of designing products and facilitate direct and indirect manufacturing. Its systems utilize patented technologies to create physical objects from digital input that can be used in design communication, prototyping, and as functional end-use parts.

3D Systems currently offers the ThermoJet(R) solid object printer, SLA(R) (stereolithography) systems, SLS(R) (selective laser sintering) systems, and Accura(R) materials (including photopolymers, metals, nylons, engineering plastics, and thermoplastics).

3D Systems is the originator of the advanced digital manufacturing (ADM(SM)) solution for manufacturing applications. ADM is the utilization of 3D Systems solid imaging technologies to accelerate production of smaller volumes of customized/specialized parts. A typical ADM center is expected to contain multiple 3D Systems' SLA, MJM and/or SLS systems dedicated to full-time manufacturing applications.

Product pricing in the U.S. ranges from $49,995, for the ThermoJet printer, to $799,000 for the high-end SLA 7000 system. 3D Systems' multiple platform product line enables companies to choose the most appropriate systems for applications ranging from the creation of design communication models to prototypes to production parts.
