Canton Township, MI, Experiences Improved Maintenance and Communication with Cityworks

Township Expands Cityworks Throughout Organization Following RIS Implementation

January 06, 2010 -- Sandy, UT — Canton Township, Michigan, implemented Cityworks using Azteca Systems’ Remote Implementation Support (RIS), taking advantage of this innovative and cost-effective method of deploying the software. According to Azteca Systems, the leading provider of GIS-centric management solutions, the Township now has the ability to effectively track utility maintenance resulting in improved interdepartmental and personnel communication.

In 2006, Canton made the decision to implement Cityworks using RIS, where an Azteca Project Manager hosts a series of webcast meetings with the organization’s representative to implement the Cityworks software. Since then, Township personnel have systematically implemented additional departments on their own with limited technical assistance. After the initial implementation in the Public Services Department, the Township extended its use of Cityworks to the Leisure Services Department (Parks and Recreation), Fleet Services, and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Cityworks is now used throughout the organization. Recently Canton moved to a Cityworks site license, specifically designed to benefit clients with a population of 100,000 or less, and are preparing to upgrade to Cityworks Server MMS in the near future.

“The RIS was a very good experience for Canton Township and for me personally as the Cityworks domain administrator,” reports David Maurice, Supervisor of Asset Management at Canton Township. “It gave me an in-depth understanding of Cityworks and specifically what the role of domain administrator called for, and allowed us to confidently reach a go-live date within six months of the first RIS session.”

“As is the case with many of our customers, Canton has had a superior experience with Cityworks from the beginning through their continued growth,” states Brian Haslam, President of Azteca Systems. “From Remote Implementation to their Cityworks enterprise site license, Canton has grabbed hold of some of the great options we provide from deployment to the end use of our software. New and existing users can look to their example of the multiple ways to utilize Cityworks and take advantage of its unique GIS-centric capabilities.”
