Geometrix/Visionix Provide World's Second Largest Eyeglass Lens Manufacturer With Fully-Automated Digital 3D Merchandising and Supply Chain Solution

Hoya Corporation Implements Virtual Try-On System at Retail Stores in Japan

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Geometrix Inc., a leading provider of interactive 3D business solutions, today announced that Hoya Corporation, the world's second largest manufacturer of eyeglass lenses, has adopted the 3D iView Virtual Try-On System. Developed by Geometrix in partnership with Visionix Ltd of Israel, the 3D iView System has also been enhanced to automatically drive "build-to-order" prescription eyewear fabrication, and to provide accurate facial biometric measurements.

Hoya is initially deploying 3D iView in Japan under the name "3D Best," with planned implementation worldwide. "The 3D iView system is now well-positioned to revolutionize the eyewear industry by automating both merchandising and supply chain integration," said David West, CEO of Geometrix, Inc. "This has been one of the largest, most challenging business projects ever attempted using interactive 3D technologies, and we're excited to have built the solution with Visionix for one of the world's largest eyewear manufacturers."

The 3D iView system utilizes Geometrix FaceVision(TM) technology to instantly digitize consumer faces as accurate 3D models during their eye exams. Using the unique 3D iView virtual try-on simulator, consumers can then wear their existing glasses while placing new frames on their 3D face image, either in-store or at home. In addition to selecting and viewing frames from any angle, the 3D iView system also provides a dynamic lens simulator, enabling rapid evaluation of lens materials, colors, opacities, and coatings.

Hoya Corporation, the world's second largest eyeglass lens manufacturer with over 2,000 retail stores in Asia, initially selected the 3D iView system to educate consumers about added-value eyeglass products such as thinner lenses, non-reflective lenses, and progressive lenses. Now, as a means to leverage 3D iView across Hoya's worldwide network of lens manufacturing and processing laboratories, the Geometrix/Visionix team has enhanced the 3D iView system to integrate biometric and optometric measurements. 3D iView is now the first virtual try-on solution that automatically performs all measurements previously taken by skilled opticians, and transmits the data directly to lens processing labs to drive modern production systems.

3D iView is available today and can be purchased worldwide through Visionix. The 3D iView system leverages Geometrix FaceVision technology, which automatically transforms images of a user's face into 3D models. Other Geometrix OEM partners are now exploring FaceVision applications including e-learning and facial recognition for airport security.
