PLMIG announces PLM User Forum results

Oxford, England. February 02, 2009
The Product Lifecycle Management Interest Group (PLMIG) announced the results of the PLM User Forum launch in Reading, UK and Cleveland, OH during November 2008. The events provided a neutral, independent platform for PLM managers to meet and to work together in detail on the issues that affect their implementations.

The number one issue throughout the launch was:-

"How does PLM measurably affect business performance?"

By focusing on the 16 Axes of PLM Maturity (such as Strategy, Portfolio Management, Collaborative Product Development, etc.) the workshops showed that, in each case, PLM can be mapped onto commercial performance.

This has implications for all companies wishing to show demonstrate their PLM effectiveness. The outline framework can be used in its current form, and it will be developed into a neutral, industry-wide metrics framework as part of the PLM User Initiative during 2009.

User companies that are interested in the metrics framework and the User Initiative can obtain a copy of the 8-page User Forum Overview document, which outlines the User Forum results, via Email Contact.
