PlanGraphics Featured in Two New Books on GIS and Emergency Management

FRANKFORT, KY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jun 23, 2008 -- Work by PlanGraphics, Inc. (OTCBB: PGRA) is featured in two new books on geographic information systems (GIS) and emergency management.

Mike Kevany, a PlanGraphics senior vice president, is the author of a chapter in "Geospatial Information Technology for Emergency Response," published recently by Taylor & Francis, a leading international publisher in IT and GIS. Kevany's chapter, "Improving Geo-information in Disaster Management through Action on Lessons Learned from Major Events," is based on Kevany's experience providing GIS support in New York City after the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001. "I provide a series of lessons... learned in the 'heat of battle' so to speak," Kevany says. "Lessons learned in integrating [GIS] into the operating environment with the [disaster management] systems." Kevany also reviews recent advances in GIS that affect disaster management, and identifies issues that still need attention. The book is part of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Book Series in Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences and is available at www.isprs.org/publications/bookseries.html.

PlanGraphics' project for the Kentucky Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP) is featured as a case study in protecting critical infrastructure in Mike Kataoka's "GIS for Homeland Security," published by ESRI Press. The case study traces the phased implementation of a mapping support system for the Blue Grass Army Depot, which stores aging chemical weapons and munitions, and it provides a variety of lessons that are applicable to other locations. As Kataoka states, PlanGraphics' work "eliminated paper records and integrated multiple data files for planning, emergency response, and training."

PlanGraphics, founded in 1979, is a full life-cycle systems integration and implementation firm providing a broad range of services in the design and implementation of information technology in the public and commercial sectors. PlanGraphics' experience with spatial information systems and e-services capabilities provides a critical discriminator among other IT consulting and integration firms.
