President of Photo Science Selected for National Geospatial Advisory Committee

Lexington, KY – February 21, 2008 – Photo Science President, G. Michael Ritchie, PE, PLS, PSM, CP has been appointed for a two-year term to the newly formed National Geospatial Advisory Committee (Committee). The Committee was established by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Federal Geographic Data Committee as an advisory board under the Federal Advisory Committee Act and is comprised of geospatial experts from the government, private sector, and academic arenas.

Mr. Ritchie, with the other members, will advise the U.S. Secretary of the Interior on the future of national geospatial policy and management practices. The Committee also creates an excellent medium to communicate the concerns and positions of the geospatial community.

“I’m extremely honored to be serving with these distinguished colleagues among the public and private sectors, as well as the collegiate arena,” states Mr. Ritchie. “I’m looking forward to providing constructive feedback and recommendations to further the geospatial community.”

Mr. Ritchie will be representing the private sector on the Committee panel. He has more than 30 years of leadership experience within the private sector, and has participated in various committees, programs, elected offices, and active organizations. Mr. Ritchie has been the President and Chief Executive Office of Photo Science since 1990. As part of the nomination process, Mr. Ritchie received endorsements from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), and the Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors (MAPPS).
