Wessling, Germany, 30 July 2007 – At this year’s EMO Hanover, OPEN MIND Technologies AG will present their latest innovations for efficient CAM programming to international trade visitors at Stand K10 in Hall 6. Highlights include their new mill/turn module hyperMILL® millTURN for complete machining on milling and turning machines, their world-leading 5axis technology with fully automated collision avoidance and the new CAD integration of hyperMILL® in SolidWorks.
EMO Hanover, which runs from 17 to 22 September 2007, is the leading trade fair in the industry and is the ideal place for customers and prospective customers from across the globe to gain live experience of OPEN MIND Technologies AG’s trend-setting CAM technologies and applications. The company will be exhibiting all the different features of their latest product developments including their strategies for complete machining in a single setup and their intelligent technologies for completely automated programming. This spectrum of information will be supplemented by numerous live demonstrations with work pieces programmed using hyperMILL®. These live demonstrations will take place on OPEN MIND Technologies AG’s own stand as well as on the stands of the various machine tool partners. Visitors to the trade fair will be able to gain a practical and comprehensive picture of the features and capabilities offered by the company’s hyperMILL® CAM software.
Milling and mill-turning with just one program
hyperMILL® millTURN – the new mill/turn module for the hyperMILL®, Version 9.6 CAM software – makes complete machining on milling and turning machines using only one CAM application possible for the first time. The advantages of modern milling and turning machines such as machining in a single setup with a high degree of accuracy and reduced set-up times are used easily and efficiently. Because the mill/turn module is seamlessly integrated in hyperMILL®, users can switch between turning and milling strategies at any time whilst they are programming and they can also generate NC programs very easily. Automatic stock tracking and stock management, the tool database and collision control are available for all turning and milling strategies. A mill/turn postprocessor ensures that a complete NC file is output.

From programming to milling
Ultimately, it is only possible to tell how good CAM strategies and programs are by using them in an actual machining job. Many live demonstrations taking place on different machines will show that hyperMILL® is not simply a flexible and user-friendly CAM system but that it also delivers first-class milling results. OPEN MIND will join partner machine manufacturers such as Alzmetall, DMG, Hermle, Huron, Chiron or Mori Seiki. Live milling demonstrations will also take place on the OPEN MIND stand. “Besides our new mill/turn module, our globally successful 5-axis technology with fully automated collision avoidance is the tool to use if you want efficient complete machining in a single setup,” says Stefan Ams, Vice President of Marketing and Engineering Services at OPEN MIND. “By carrying out live milling demonstrations on our stand we can demonstrate the most important aspects of 5axis machining to visitors, including optimal surfaces, short machine cycle times and kinematics that are easier on the machine”.

New hyperMILL® Versions V9.6 and V9.7
In addition to the new mill/turn module, hyperMILL® V9.6 promises to increase performance by around 30 per cent thanks to its multi-core processor support. Version V9.7 will be presented to a wide range of visitors for the first time at the EMO and will undoubtedly prove to be the top highlight for all SolidWorks users. This version includes the new CAD integration of hyperMILL® in SolidWorks. This integration allows users to work with hyperMILL® in their familiar SolidWorks environment. This is an ideal solution for continuous CAD/CAM processes that access one database and for programming in a familiar operating environment. This version will also support Windows Vista.

Optimally prepared for an international audience
