Cimatron's software is used primarily by 11th and 12th grade students attending the Engineering and Emerging Technologies program at the Oakland Schools' Technical Campuses. Close to four hundred students attend the program at four campuses, located in Clarkston, Pontiac, Royal Oak, and Wixom, MI.
Enrolled students receive hands-on technical training in multiple facets of manufacturing, production, engineering and design, taught by certified instructors with significant industry experience. Students acquire a range of skills that enable them to either continue their technical education at a college-level engineering program or find a technical job.
"Our emphasis is on the most modern and advanced engineering and technology
training," explains Bill W. Williams, Ph.D., Instructional Resources Consultant
at the Oakland Schools. "We are training our students on core foundational
skills of engineering technologies, with the goal of moving towards high level
advanced manufacturing and production processes."
"Students use the
Cimatron CAD software to design parts and assemblies, and then use the CAM
software to run the part on the CNC machine," says Williams. "In the short time
since we started using the software, these young students are doing terrific
things with the Cimatron software, even though we haven't given them much
training on it yet."
"The support we are receiving from Cimatron has been
exceptional," says Williams. "Cimatron's focus on the tooling industry, the
breadth of product offerings from design to manufacturing, and the continued
introduction of advanced product capabilities has made the Cimatron software a
perfect match for students at Oakland Schools."
Cimatron Technologies has
a longstanding tradition of supporting educational initiatives with generous
software donations. "We are happy to collaborate with the Oakland Schools on
such an outstanding program," says Sam Golan, CEO and President of Cimatron
Technologies, Inc. "To stay competitive, local manufacturers will need highly
skilled workers. These students are the future of our industry, and the program
at Oakland Schools Technical Campuses provides them with a unique opportunity to
build a strong foundation of advanced technical education."
