The integrated CAD approach of hyperMILL® CAM solutions offer increased productivity when compared with single-system solutions. In addition to the CAD integrations for hyperCAD® and thinkdesign®, hyperMILL V9.5 now includes integrated solutions for Pro/ENGINEER® Wildfire™, Autodesk® Inventor and Autodesk Mechanical Desktop.

OPEN MIND Technologies AG is now offering hyperMILL CAD integrations for popular CAD systems such as Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop and Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire. The update to Version 9.5 means that users of these CAD systems can also take full advantage of the latest hyperMILL functions.

Version 9.5’s greatly enhanced feature technology provides numerous options for standardising and automating the programming of recurring and similar part geometry. Machining strategies and tools can be combined as macros and stored in a graphical database, from which they can be retrieved at any time. With our newly developed collision checking and avoidance features, the programming of 5-axis tasks has become as easy as 3D programming. In 5-axis simultaneous machining, the software calculates the tool positions automatically – without the need for guide curves - all the user needs to enter is a preference angle. For collision avoidance, users can specify the B or C axis as the preferred axis. This results in smoother tool movements and improved milling surfaces. 5-axis rest machining has also been augmented with a new automation feature. It automatically detects all fixed tool inclinations that are required for machining an entire workpiece in a single step.


In addition to these new features, which significantly ease programming, there are numerous detail improvements. For example, programmers can now define the tool contour as well as the tool holder and head using free geometries. This simulates the actual machining scenario and the resulting removal of material even more realistically. Special tools such as step drills or T-groove cutters can be defined via multiple reference coordinates, which makes it significantly easier to program and collision-check tools with different blades. Automatic rest machining now permits the use of bullnose endmills. They enable highly accurate machining of corners, edges and small radii. hyperMILL V9.5 features all these improvements and more thanks to its existing and new CAD integrations.
