DAT/EM Systems International integrates its SUMMIT EVOLUTION ™ Digital Stereoplotter with Planar’s SD1710 3D desktop monitor

Anchorage, Alaska, USA, September 2005 - DAT/EM Systems International has enhanced the viewing capabilities of the SUMMIT EVOLUTION ™ Digital Stereoplotter by integrating Planar’s SD1710 3D desktop monitor as an optional component of the system.

The SD1710 3D desktop monitor is a novel stereoscopic monitor that has been developed combining the output of two active matrix LCD's into a stereo image through use of a unique beam splitter design. This approach creates a stereo/3D monitor that retains the full resolution, response time and color characterization of the component displays. The resultant flicker-free image, when viewed with passive polarizing glasses, provides an unprecedented level of viewing comfort in stereo. The monitor also is bright enough to use in normal office lighting. The display has excellent optical isolation of the two stereo channels and a wide viewing angle suitable for multi-viewer use. The higher level of performance provided by the SD1710 allows for stereo viewing to be viable in new imaging markets as well as permitting a more effective

The Planar 1710 system has been installed at several DAT/EM client sites with extremely positive feedback. The image viewing quality is clear and crisp, rivaling that of older analytical mapping systems. In one case the Planar helped to dramatically improve a client's efficiency when working in forested areas. Also the option of two additional screens for running desktop applications provides a wealth of area to work with.
