Alibre Design For Rhino Plug-In Delivers Parametric Solid Modeling To Rhino Users

RICHARDSON, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Mar 29, 2005 -- Alibre Inc. has joined with Robert McNeel and Associates, an Alibre Solution Partner, to deliver an integrated solution for feature-based mechanical design to Rhino users.

The plug-in allows solid models created in Alibre Design to be inserted into Rhinoceros® with an associative link. Any changes made to the solid model in Alibre Design are transferred via the plug-in to the existing file in Rhino.

This software combination is ideal for design tasks that require surface modeling capabilities for complex geometry creation as well as parametric solid modeling capabilities for mechanical component design and manufacturing. For instance, a marine designer fitting mechanical machinery or structural components within a smooth hull design, or a manufacturer developing tooling or fixtures to facilitate the machining of molds or dies.

Alibre is offering free access to introductory training on parametric design and the Alibre Design for Rhino plug-in via the web using LiveMeeting. Interested parties can register online at www.alibre.com/promos/rhino-webinar.aspx. The online training seminars are held twice a day and reservations are taken on a first come-first served basis.

"The ability to integrate parametric solid models directly into Rhino opens up a whole new spectrum of design workflow and efficiency," said Bob McNeel, CEO of Robert McNeel & Associates. "Parametric, feature-based design and associative 2D drafting makes Rhino particularly appealing to mechanical designers and manufacturers, and we're excited to be working with Alibre to make it accessible to all our customers."

"The combination of Alibre Design and Rhino competes with any 3D CAD product on the market, and hands down offers the best value in CAD today," said Greg Milliken, CEO of Alibre, Inc. "This is the fastest, easiest and most affordable way for Rhino users -- or anyone interested in 3D -- to add parametric design and automated 2D drawing creation to their suite of CAD tools."

Alibre develops and markets Alibre Design, a parametric 3D solid modeler for mechanical design and manufacturing. One-fifth the cost of comparable software, Alibre Design delivers ease-of-use, rich functionality, extensive tutorials and unique real-time support via the Alibre Assistant. Customers may also share and edit product designs in real time with integrated online tools. Alibre Design is available in seven languages and distributed around the world. Founded in 1997, Alibre Inc. is privately funded and based in Richardson, Texas. For more information, visit www.alibre.com.
