Intergraph Process, Power & Marine Shipping MARIAN Corporate Control Module Enables Enterprise Functions for Project-centric Businesses

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Nov. 8, 2004 – The Process, Power & Marine division of Intergraph Corporation is shipping the new Corporate Control Module (CCM) for the MARIAN materials, procurement and supply chain management software. Enabling enterprise functions for project businesses, the CCM helps solve the problem of ensuring consistent corporate procurement standards throughout a globally-distributed, multi-project and multi-site project execution environment.

Large projects, such as industrial plant construction, are a high-risk, low-margin business in which sourcing decisions require a high degree of flexibility and autonomy on the project level. These circumstances make it challenging for complex projects to benefit from or contribute to corporate sourcing and standardization efforts. The MARIAN CCM opens the door, for example, for performing enterprise-level procurement in a highly project-centric environment. The CCM ensures all projects are speaking the same procurement and materials management language, enabling projects to retain needed flexibility and independence while easily linking them to enterprise sourcing initiatives.

The first commercial CCM release enables enterprise-wide maintenance and replication of corporate standards such as supplier information, specifications, article numbers and component geometries. The new MARIAN module supports corporate standards and nomenclature across independent projects, even if they are in remote locations without continuous database connection. In cases where different projects have independently created different codes for the same articles, the CCM assigns corporate identifiers to support consistent, centralized procurement.
