Siemens Information And Communications Network Group (ICN) Implemenents Eigner Product Lifecycle Management

Migration To Eigner PLM Completed In Only Ten Months

WALTHAM, MA -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 12/18/2001 -- Eigner, a leading developer of precision product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, today announced that Siemens ICN, a leading provider of integrated voice and data networks for enterprises, carriers and service providers, has implemented a product lifecycle management solution based on Eigner technology.

Siemens' PLM solution provides users across three locations in Florida and California with real-time access to engineering and production information, resulting in increased collaboration between design teams and faster product development. The solution features ad-hoc reporting; integration with SAP to create the material master and bill of material (BOM), and to provide instant standard cost and availability information; workflow with e-mail alerts, document redlining via integration with visualization tools; web-based client access; and enterprise-wide product data exchange using Eigner's extensible Markup Language (XML) engine.

"Choosing Eigner was a logical choice, based on its past successes with Siemens ICN in Europe," said Tom Welsh, PDM project manager at Siemens ICN. "Eigner's understanding of product lifecycle processes enabled us to deploy a full PLM system in ten short months. Our system now manages more than 230,000 parts, 11,000 electronic change orders, 91,000 documents and 185,000 files between our North American and European operations."

"Manually interacting with multiple enterprise systems can significantly reduce the amount of time an engineer has to spend on actual product development," said Paul Giaconia, vice president of product marketing at Eigner. "Eigner PLM enables Siemens to bring multiple enterprise systems and hundreds of users together, reducing the administrative burden of its engineers and allowing them to spend more time on innovative product design."
