Munich/Bavaria, Germany, May 11, 2004 — Software Factory is pleased to announce the availability of PI-MERGE for Pro/INTRALINK. PI-MERGE is a unique tool for migrating, moving, sharing, and consolidating information between Pro/INTRALINK Commonspaces. In its basic functionality, it can be used to merge a single Pro/INTRALINK Commonspace, or parts thereof, into an existing Commonspace, including the full object and version history.

Enterprises call for flexibility to adapt their team data management to changing situations, requirements, objectives, and structures. This is addressed by PI-MERGE, which covers multiple use cases, e.g. moving or distributing objects between Commonspaces, archiving or sourcing out projects, distribution or merging of part libraries, or cleaning up or consolidating settings and configurations of existing Commonspaces (e.g. revision or release schemes).
PI-MERGE includes a check tool to analyze source and target Commonspaces for conflicts created by different configurations or duplicate objects. After all conflicts have been solved, the physical files and metadata are transferred from source to target Commonspace. Commonspaces can stay online during the transfer. Object versions in source and target Commonspaces remain synchronized. An extensive mapping functionality compensates for different Commonspace configurations. Folder structures in the target Commonspace are created automatically. Besides transferring object and folder attributes, baselines can be transferred.
