Lumenpulse Sponsors, Mentors Walpole High School's Robotics Team

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Mar 20, 2012 -- Lumenpulse Inc., a leading innovator and manufacturer of high performance, architectural LED-based lighting solutions for commercial, institutional, and urban environments, today announced that it will be sponsoring the Walpole RoboRebels, the Walpole High School robotics team, as it prepares for the annual FIRST robotics competitions.

Thousands of teams of high school students each compete in a global robotics competition sponsored by FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a not-for-profit organization founded by inventor Dean Kamen to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology.

The Walpole RoboRebels have competed in FIRST competitions since 2002-2003 celebrating a decade of top finishes and regional awards along the way. Each year a group of 50 students plan the fundraising efforts, and work with mentors and Walpole High teachers Fred Hinck and Dustin Scott to develop a robot that meets the new robotics challenge set out by FIRST.

"Lumenpulse values the importance of fueling innovation and technology," said Greg Campbell, Chief Technology Officer at Lumenpulse. "Beyond the sponsorship of the RoboRebels, Lumenpulse will be hiring a few students as part of a six week summer internship to provide real-world engineering experience. We feel supporting the Walpole RoboRebels is an important way Lumenpulse can give back to our community."
