The Government of West Bengal deployed CyberSWIFT, a global IT services concern, to develop a web based GIS system on polling booth information

Kolkata, 28/02/2011 – CyberSWIFT, a global IT services and geospatial solutions concern, helped the government of West Bengal in India develop web based GIS polling booths. This has helped the State Chief Electoral Officer keep a track of the polling booths from the website (www.ceowestbengal.nic.in) itself.

The system was so designed that it provides a map showing the detailed location and nearby landmarks of all the 51,919 polling booths in the area. The software also provides details of the polling stations like records of past violence or disturbance during voting in that area, updates about the present law and order situation, and a detailed insight of the number of personnel arranged for polling and security reasons. The software covers the entire region falling within 200-meter radius of each booth, including approach roads and nearby installations.
