Article source: Atelier Cosmas Gozali Marunda is a beach in northern Jakarta shoreline, where huge container ships dock in this place. The fragments of concrete piles functioned as wave breaker and box‐shaped building with sloped roofing, lined in a row on the calm shoreline.  Image Courtesy © Fernando Gomulya The common way of thinking is to decide the communicative building shape to connect with human, next is to decide the needs of the occupants, and then the needs of space. The futuristic architecture concept with the ‘anti‐clear and explicit lines’ is realized into the KCN Marunda project as a company working in harboring and shipping areas.  Image Courtesy © Fernando Gomulya The futuristic shape which has a dramatic tendency is inspired from extraterrestrial objects, such as UFO and meteor. The futuristic concept in the middle of typical buildings was chosen, because from all those buildings there must be a dominant shape.  Image Courtesy © Fernando Gomulya The building looks like a flying outer space architecture. There are many artificial lighting in the lower floor, making it looks as if a UFO is floating. The futuristic concept looked as if it fights the law of nature, with the upper part looks much heavier than the lower part. The objective is to make people gasped and awed, and in the end the building will become a landmark to the surrounding neighborhood.  Image Courtesy © Fernando Gomulya The landscape consisted of rocks and thick trees are arranged with a geometry shaped crop circle. Other than using the conventional wall material, the outer walls of the upper floor are covered with GRC plates. To support modern futuristic concept was originally going to use copper plate but was cancelled due to the copper material tends to draw heat.  Image Courtesy © Fernando Gomulya GRC plates then arranged asymmetrically and supported by non‐structural steel frames. It also act as a secondary skin to withstand the heat. The irregular and asymmetrical shape is actually studied part by part so that it is compatible and corresponds to the direction of rainfall, wind, and sunlight. Image Courtesy © Fernando Gomulya
