Dassault Systemes and LMS International announced that LMS has become the first company to join Dassault Systemes' new SIMULIA Partner Program, which unites simulation partners from the ABAQUS Alliance Program with Dassault Systemes' Component Application Architecture (CAA V5) community. The V5-based LMS Virtual.Lab applications will be available as partner products within the SIMULIA system. SIMULIA is Dassault Systemes' open multi-physics platform that supports realistic simulation for a wide range of industries. By reducing the need for the physical testing of products, SIMULIA accelerates development and reduces the cost of ownership for realistic simulation, optimizing quality and
performance.

UGS Corp. announced a free software upgrade to all current MSC. Nastran for Windows (a product based on UGS' Femap product and previously sold by MSC) users to UGS' Femap with NX Nastran analysis product. UGS' offer results directly from its decision to terminate the OEM agreement between UGS and MSC.Software that allowed MSC.Software to bundle Femap with MSC.Nastran. As a result of UGS' decision to terminate the contract, MSC can no longer provide Femap inside MSC.Nastran for Windows nor offer upgrades. UGS decided to terminate the contract due to MSC's consistent failure to deliver upgrades to customers on a timely basis. Users who take advantage of UGS' free software upgrade offer will
receive Femap 9.1 and NX Nastran 4.0 immediately, and all future updates.
