Join Bob Deragisch, Parker Hannifin, as he presents Transitioning to CATIA as an Enterprise-wide Standard CAD Tool in a live, interactive Webcast on Tuesday, September 6, at 11:00 a.m. EST.
As a Tier-One Aerospace Systems provider, Parker Hannifin's Aerospace Group has utilized several dozen CAD systems over the last 35 years. In 2008, the decision was made to standardize on CATIA as the CAD tool of choice across the Aerospace Group. Obviously, the decision to move to a standard tool across eight disparate divisions supporting development of solutions for practically every commercial Aerospace program world-wide was the 'easy' part. The history of CAD solutions utilized by the operating units of Parker Aerospace has provided some excellent opportunities to learn the "ins and outs" of transitions of this type. MBD/MBE, LOTAR and product certification play important roles in considering what to translate, when to translate, and how to translate from 'legacy' tools into the selected enterprise standard solution. The impact of collaboration, interoperability, tool maintenance and version control/upgrades is dramatically increasing the complexity of our efforts to move all new design to CATIA V5. The benefits of the transition and standardization, however, will outweigh the costs of the move, as will be discussed in the summary of this interactive session.
About the Presenter
Deragisch started working at Parker Hannifin shortly after attending the University of California at Irvine and Chapman University in Orange, California. During the last 30+ years, Bob has held numerous positions throughout the IT and Engineering departments of Parker. Bob has been supporting Parker's use of CATIA since he installed V2 in 1985. Bob was also the original author of numerous engineering applications written specifically for Parker design use, many of which, although hopefully revised and modified since, are still in use today. Currently, Bob is responsible for managing Engineering Services for the Aerospace Group, while also directing eBusiness initiatives for the Group, with an emphasis on collaboration with customers, suppliers, and partners.
