The importance of comprehensive product data models to support advances in manufacturing systems has been presented from a CAM perspective at former CIC meetings. In this session, the experience of making 3DA/PMI data available and corresponding user adoption of 3DA/PMI will be presented from a CAD perspective. The reality of the situation and the chasm still to be crossed may be surprising to many. As part of exploring the situation, some identified barriers to adoption and potential remedies to these barriers will also be presented.
