Performance Racing Helmet Shines in OPEN MIND Booth at IMTS

OPEN MIND Technologies will present hyperMILL® 2010 at IMTS in Booth E-3855.  hyperMILL is used for 2.5D through 5-axis milling and turning, supported by robust in-house developed postprocessors and a world-class team of experienced manufacturing personnel.

The 2010 release of hyperMILL includes significant improvements both to roughing calculation times and machining times.  Automation and increased productivity remain constant development themes in hyperMILL as well.

Automation enhancements include programming reductions based on intelligent design processes and programming filters (called Customized Process Features) that replace repetitive user selections.  Long used to streamline input in our world-class Multi-blade and Tire Mold applications, these have been expanded to all hyperMILL product applications.

And OPEN MIND’s tool path strategies benefit from continuous process improvement to 5-axis and advanced indexing solutions.  The robust tool path calculations, developed by OPEN MIND staff, greatly increase the assurance of results with no or minimal test cutting.

We will also preview the 64-bit version of hyperMILL software at the show.

Additionally in the booth, we are pleased to have the award-winning Performance Racing Helmet created by OPEN MIND’s customer Daishin Seiki of Japan.  This is the actual component machined in the extremely popular YouTube video (keyword:  “hyperMILL helmet”).  Visitors will be able to examine for themselves the precision, craftsmanship, exquisite detail and outstanding surface finish.

Key staff from Daishin Seiki will also be available during the show to answer questions regarding the helmet.  Daishin Seiki won the Gold Medal in the 2009 Mori Seiki Cutting Dream Contest for Mold and Artistic Milling for the helmet application.
