Basic FEMAP and NEiNastran Advanced Nonlinear Analysis Training Class

March 12th - 14th 2008

Basic FEMAP
This is the perfect class for newcomers to finite element analysis. A very practical approach is taken from the outset.

Students will be shown demonstrations of how to set up, analyze and investigate typical structures. Intensive workshop periods then follow to put this new knowledge into practice. The important features of the FEMAP GUI are introduced in a logical and informative manner. Emphasis during the class is on the construction of proper analysis for both single part and assembly models. Additional troubleshooting techniques are discussed, as well as the various types of common error messages generated by FEMAP.

Objective
The objective of this class is to give a solid grounding in FEA basics and good practice to enable the student to carry out real world analysis.

Content
• Introduction to basic part and assembly modeling
• Linear static and normal modes analysis
• 1D, 2D and 3D element modeling
• Importing geometry and geometry repair
• Meshing, mesh repair and hand meshing

Date: March 10th - 11th
Location: Westminster, CA
Length: 2 Days
Course Price: $800 (registration with pre-payment by Fri Feb 15th, 2008)
or $1000 (standard registration)

Advanced Nonlinear Analysis
This class is presented in an informal way with the emphasis towards maximizing the hands on experience for the student. Many sample model set up, analysis and results processing examples are presented live by the tutor for the class to learn, discuss and investigate. In addition, examples are provided for the students to practice and gain confidence in the methods. These are increasingly challenging as the class proceeds. Many students work with the tutor to create sample analyses that are relevant to their particular industry segment or working practice. This is highly encouraged, as is bringing example problems to class.

Objective
The objective of this class is to provide the student with the skills to be able to interpret the engineering problem, identify the required analysis process clearly, and use Noran Engineering, Inc. tools to carry it out and finally to critically review the results.

Content
• Differences between linear and nonlinear analysis
• Types of nonlinear analysis:
