Manufacturing Technology Leaders Tackle Challenges Facing American Manufacturers

CHICAGO, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Start magazine, a manufacturing trade publication that serves 85,000 industry leaders, today announced the lineup of leading technology companies that will compose the IBM Technology Track at Start's Manufacturing and Economic Recovery Conference Sept. 28-30 in Chicago.

MERC will address the issues facing manufacturers today. The goal of the conference is to inspire manufacturers to unite, not only within their own industries, but also with government and consumers, in an effort to boost American manufacturing. The IBM Technology Track will provide a roadmap of solutions outlined by partners working with IBM to address the challenges facing small and medium-size enterprises.

"IBM believes that technology will play an important role in the future of manufacturing because manufacturers are relying on technology to support new business designs that improve their competitiveness in the global economy," said Patrick Sedillo, segment executive for IBM's industrial sector. "We're thrilled to be part of a conference where manufacturers and technologists come together to discuss new ideas and success stories."

IBM will host the Technology Track with help from a handful of its technology solutions partners: Business Objects, IFS, Infor, Intentia, LANSA, Logility and SSA Global. Each session within the Technology Track will highlight some of the outstanding success stories from IBM and its partners' customers.

"IBM and its partners are giving manufacturers what they need to take the next step in their technology journeys," said Peggy Smedley, president of Specialty Publishing and editorial director for Start. "Powerful technology solutions are an important piece of the puzzle that manufacturers need to put together to stay competitive and find success."
