Future Mobility
Tony Affuso
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer
Late winter and early spring is a busy and exciting time of year in the automotive industry with events like the North American International Auto Show, the Geneva International Motor Show, Canadian International Auto Show, India Auto Expo and many more local and regional activities taking place. With 15 of the 16 Automotive OEMs producing more than one million vehicles annually using our PLM technology in the development and manufacturing of their vehicles, we are deeply involved in this industry and its events.

One of the most interesting recent gatherings has been the Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) technical conference held this week in Germany. While there, we had an opportunity to talk about how the challenges growing from global megatrends will reinvent mobility and PLM’s role in that transition. As our president, Dr. Helmuth Ludwig, noted in his address at the conference, “Urbanization, demographic shift, climate change and globalization are shaping our future, and the challenges each presents will reinvent mobility. The key for any automaker is to find the right balance between environmental, economic and social concerns, while developing a vehicle people want to drive.”
