SolidCAM at SolidWorks World 2009

SolidCAM2009 supports Advanced Sorting Drill

West Midlands Design and Manufacturing Event

SolidCAM at SolidWorks World 2009

While major parts of the Northern Hemisphere are still suffering from the hard winter, the participants of SolidWorks World enjoyed the rays of the sunlight in Orlando/Florida. Anthony Calderone, the new CTO of our SolidCAM US team (see photo) has already been very busy in taking the questions of our resellers and customers.

SolidWorks World 2009 in Orlando (Florida) was an excellent event for SolidCAM and all who attended. There were over 4,300 attendees and 100 Partner products on display at the partner pavilion.

SolidCAM was one of the most popular and talked about products at SolidWorks World 2009. Our booth was in an excellent location, and we were consistently busy demonstrating SolidCAM2008 R12, the new electrode solution, while Sidney Eisner, the "SolidCAM Professor", was showing many new SolidCAM 2009 features. Our booth was continually packed with attendees and SolidWorks VAR's from North America and around the world. The staff in attendance from SolidCAM incorporated for the first time two new members of our US team, Shaun Mymudes (Sales/Marketing) and Anthony Calderone (CTO).

It was evident from the positive comments we received from both our existing customers and people who have watched SolidCAM evolve, that SolidCAM today is the leader and standard for the integrated CAM marketplace. It was also very clear that everyone in attendance knows that the future of manufacturing lies with integrated solutions.

Dear reader, let us shape this future together!

Managing Director

  • SolidCAM2009 supports Advanced Sorting Drill
  • In the upcoming version SolidCAM2009 we will support an "Advanced Sorting" option for Drilling operations. This feature enables to automatically sort the drills in a variety of ways. For parts with several hundred drill holes ( e.g. plates of complex molds) this can reduce the CNC Programming time more than 60%.

The "Advanced Sorting" offers the user two new Dialogue boxes:

    • Box: This option enables the user to define a drill sequence by selecting a starting point and a pattern, out of 16 possible linear sub-patterns, according to which the drills are machined.

    • Cylinder: This option offers 12 possible circular sub-patterns to automatically machine drills from the outside to the center.
The new feature provides a flexible, user-controlled way to sort hundreds of holes within a few seconds. SolidCAM users will save a significant amount of time with the Advanded Sorting for Drilling operations, as demonstrated by the following video.
