"The landscape for HTPs has changed dramatically over the last four years," says LaVerne Ellerbe, industry manager of the Advanced Materials Practice for Kline's research division. "On the supplier side, consolidation in the industry, downward pressure on pricing, and capacity expansions have all had a significant effect. In the end-use markets, economic recession, changes in environmental regulations and trade agreements, and volatility after Sept. 11 have boosted demand for HTPs for some applications and weakened it for others."
"With all of the different factors affecting the market, it's important to know where the opportunities and threats are, and to plan for the next step," says Ellerbe.
Kline's new study, the sixth edition of this market analysis that was first published in 1985, will be completely updated to evaluate recent product, technology, manufacturing, and intellectual property developments. It will also include five-year growth forecasts and scenario analyses to assess the significance of changes in end-use markets and the potential impacts on HTP use.
The study series will consist of three regional volumes to be published over the course of two years, focusing on the United States, Japan, and Western Europe, respectively. These volumes will be accompanied by a global industry review for 2004 and for 2005. The series is designed to help suppliers, compounders, and end users understand the overall market dynamics and capitalize on the developing business opportunities in each of the leading HTP-consuming regions.
