Autodesk Sets Example for Integrated Project Delivery at Architecture, Engineering and Construction Division HQ
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — August 3, 2010 — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK), a world leader in 2D and 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, today announced that the facility that houses its East Coast headquarters has received 13 industry awards in recognition of its innovative design and collaborative building process.
The building, constructed in 2009 and located at 1560 Trapelo Road in Waltham, Mass., is certified LEED Commercial Interior Platinum and LEED Core & Shell Gold. The Trapelo Road facility is also New England’s first example of 100% integrated project delivery (IPD), a building process that helps architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) professionals to exceed client demands by easing and integrating the collaborative efforts of owners, architects, engineers, construction managers, fabricators and end users at the earliest possible stage of any project.
“The Trapelo Road project was truly an opportunity for us to showcase our software’s capabilities and embrace the building processes we deem so important,” said Phil Bernstein, FAIA, LEED AP and vice president, industry strategy and relations, Autodesk AEC Solutions. “As a company, we are the foremost proponents of the collaborative, environmental and cost-savings advantages of building information modeling and integrated project delivery. The work on this project was our chance to shine—and we ran with it. We are tremendously pleased with the Trapelo Road finished product and, judging from the awards the project received, so was the rest of the industry.”
“Working on the Autodesk AEC headquarters helped us to achieve the framework for delivering buildings that we had been preparing for,” said John Tocci, CEO, Tocci Building Corporation. “The entire team was intimately involved in the concept and creation of the building and wanted to see this project realized in the best way possible.”
“Trapelo Road was truly a breakthrough experience for the entire project team—leveraging BIM with IPD enabled us to produce exceptional results,” said Scott Simpson, FAIA, LEED AP, a principal and senior director at KlingStubbins.
