MatrixOne and Sun Microsystems Offer Seminar Focusing on the Power of PLM in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

Washington, D.C.-based Event on April 29 to Demonstrate the Proven Value and Strategic Benefit of PLM

WESTFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 2003-- MatrixOne, Inc. (NASDAQ: MONE), a leading provider of collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions for the value chain(TM), today announced the next session in its PLM Seminar Series taking place on April 29, in Washington, D.C. Co-sponsored by Sun Microsystems, the seminar will focus on providing PLM education to companies in the aerospace and defense industries.

As part of the event, Peter Everitt, CTO of Modulant, a leading provider of business process interoperability solutions, will highlight its PLM work with the US Air Force. Modulant has implemented MatrixOne PLM solutions to enable interoperability and consistent business processes between the Department of Defense and commercial industries. Modulant will demonstrate how PLM solutions are being used today in the aerospace and defense industry and will outline a "best practices" approach for developing and delivering successful PLM solutions. Several key areas will be addressed, including:

-- Demonstrating how out-of-the-box solutions satisfy Department of Defense, NASA and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements;
-- Streamlining aerospace and defense processes and reducing cycle time through cross-functional integration; and
-- How companies can implement simple, configurable solutions that fit seamlessly into enterprises' processes without requiring change or sacrificing functionality.

"Achieving process excellence is a common goal across all industries, however companies competing in the aerospace and defense industry also face a set of stringent requirements that are unique to their industry alone," said John Fleming, Senior Vice President of Marketing at MatrixOne. "Specifically, these companies must adhere to strict quality, regulatory and security requirements that are indicative of the sensitive, classified nature of their business. PLM solutions help them meet these specific requirements while providing direct and tangible benefits through the reduction of development costs and improved efficiencies."

Sun Microsystems is the exclusive sponsor of the MatrixOne PLM Seminar Series, and AMR Research will provide industry insights to enterprises attending the event.
