Multiple instant price quotes, automated upload, secured data, and broad choice are the cornerstones for Xpress3D
SOUTHBOROUGH, MA—March 31, 2003– Xpress3D, Inc., the overnight rapid prototyping (RP) company, today announced a major expansion of their solution by forming partnerships with other Rapid Prototyping Service Bureaus to create an online marketplace for “Instant Competitive Quotes”. Users of Xpress3D, whether on the Web or directly from their CAD system, can now instantly view price quotes from multiple providers.
Traditional RP providers, even those that offer a choice of RP technologies, typically ask for a full upload of the file, and usually take hours or days to generate a quote. Using Xpress3D’s technology, design engineers simply hit a button and quotes instantly appear. Users then sort through the quotes by price, prototype material, customer review, or geography. Xpress3D’s marketplace offers users the option of RP technologies including Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), and more.
“There is no other place available today that can provide a set of competitive quotes which are calculated and presented to the customer in seconds,” said Xpress3D president Rick Chin. “This marketplace is an extension of our mission, combining the ease and speed of Xpress3D, with the capabilities of proven rapid prototype providers. Designers now have even more options, choosing among SLA, FDM, SLS, or 3D Printing, as well as pricing and shipping preferences.”
Xpress3D users can receive prototypes of models designed in any major 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) solution including Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, CATIA, Pro/E, Rhino, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Unigraphics, and more. Users simply export STL files and Xpress3D's simple online interface takes care of the rest. Inventor and SolidWorks users can also download the Xpress3D add-in, giving them instant access to quotes while still in the CAD system.
Xpress3D and all of the partnering solution providers consider security a top priority. Security starts on the first step when receiving an instant price quote when the model remains safely on the customer's computer. When the user is ready to purchase, Xpress3D's proprietary technology reformats the model and compresses the data into a protected file, which is then transmitted over a 128-bit SSL connection. This process is automated, again reflecting the ease and speed of Xpress3D, and never compromises the accuracy nor the security of a users model.
