Moldflow Releases Moldflow Manufacturing Solutions 1.0

Modular system allows manufacturers to perform a range of mission-critical tasks including process and production optimization, control, and monitoring

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 1, 2003-- At the 2003 International Moldflow User Conference, Moldflow Corporation (NASDAQ: MFLO), the world's leading provider of software products and services for optimizing the design and manufacture of injection-molded plastic products, today announced the release of the Moldflow Manufacturing Solutions(TM) (MMS(TM)) 1.0. The MMS 1.0 product represents the integration of a series of applications powered by Moldflow Plastics Xpert(R) (MPX(R)) and Moldflow Shotscope(R) technology and will help customers improve manufacturing efficiency and productivity.

Specifically, MMS 1.0 is a Collaborative Manufacturing Management (CMM) system for the plastics injection molding and metal die casting industries that captures and makes available extensive process and production data for use in real-time business performance management. CMM is the framework for organizing and controlling the key business processes of a manufacturing enterprise. Business leaders use it to drive strategic planning and technology assessment, as well as map existing conditions and a migration path for improvements.

-- MMS/Production Manager - provides "at-a-glance" information regarding machine uptime/downtime, part counts, defect tracking and machine efficiencies.
-- MMS/Operator Station - the "at-the-machine" interface for users to login, enter part defect and machine downtime causes, and view job-specific information.
-- MMS/Statistical Process Control - used to monitor the process and alarm or divert parts should process limits be violated.
-- MMS/Statistical Quality Control - SQC data can be recorded and associated with shot-specific process data for correlation with SPC data.
-- MMS/Process Analyzer - used to display and analyze real-time or historical process profiles.
-- MMS/Production Reporting - used to communicate critical process and production data in near real-time so informed business decisions can be made.

Supported Systems

MMS 1.0 can be installed on virtually any plastics injection molding machine in production use today for Real-time Performance Management. MMS 1.0 interfaces to more than 30 process controllers from many of the world's leading plastics machinery manufacturers including ARBURG, Battenfeld, Billion, BMB, Demag Ergotech, Engel, Ferromatik Milacron, Italtech, Krauss-Maffei, MAICOPRESSE, MIR, Netstal, Stork, Van Dorn Demag, and UBE.

MMS 1.0 also supports metal die casting machines from many of the world's leading equipment manufacturers including Buhler, Frech, HPM, IdraPrince, Italpresse, Toshiba and UBE among others.

MMS 1.0 is available with English and French local language support and runs under the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 operating system.
