The effects of the global downturn are far more severe in some industries than others. For companies at the severe end of the scale it can mean the complete abandonment of PLM planning and implementation, as everything becomes focused on cost saving. The question is:- what is the PLM industry doing to help?
Currently, the answer seems to be:- very little. In general, as user companies in affected industries retrench and try to survive, the PLM providers' response is to cut their own spending and try to sit it out.
The PLMIG believes that more could, and should, be done. A relatively small amount of immediate, concerted action could be of great help to all companies faced with these common problems.
The PLMIG therefore announces its Vendor Support Survey to find out what that action should be. Users, vendors and service providers who see PLM being frozen because of the economy are invited to submit their views on what could be done that would be directly useful, right now.
The survey email address is Email Contact.
