SAP to Support Independent Software Partners in Reaching New Markets With Vertical Industry-Tailored Solutions for Small and Midsize Businesses
The global ISV network will consist of qualified independent software vendors capable of offering best-of-solution additions to SAP Business One. Designed to make SAP Business One the most feature-rich solution on the market, the program will provide value to ISVs by helping reduce their product development costs, easing migration paths, enabling tight integration to SAP products, and opening up new opportunities in the global market.
"Our ISV partners know that by partnering with SAP, they can leverage the long term benefits of building upon SAP's stable and expandable technology with the ability to extend their reach internationally," said Juergen Kleinsteuber, director, Business One Operation Global, SAP AG. "With the partner program, ISVs can streamline product development, flatten learning curves, and boost their bottom lines. Our mutual customers will benefit from the tight integration of ISV solutions into SAP Business One, ensuring an easy migration path to future versions."
The first SAP Business One specialized solution will be available at the end of April, developed by Swiss partner Simultan. The enhancement will bring core functionalities from Simultan's SMB solutions platform into SAP Business One. In addition to cost calculation and asset management capabilities, Simultan will also add human resources management capabilities specific to the Swiss market. Simultan plans to completely integrate its modules into SAP's user interface to attain the look and feel of SAP Business One.
"The clear commitment of SAP's management to the partnership with Simultan creates an excellent basis for us to expand into the international market for mid-range business solutions," says Roland Renggli, CEO of Simultan. "Access to SAP's established channels will also strengthen our company and our software platform in the Swiss market. Our customers will thus gain the security of a business solution that meets their specific needs and is continually based state-of-the-art technology."
In Germany, a further ISV partner, Weber Datentechnik, has developed a production planning and control system in use at Osmota, a manufacturer of water purification equipment. Osmota, a small business with a staff of 20, recently replaced its enterprise resource planning (ERP) software with SAP Business One, and has deployed the enhanced functionality developed by Weber Datentechnik to cover a wide spectrum of business processes including proposal and materials management, purchase order processing, revenue planning, and profitability analysis.
Support and Software Development Kit for ISV Partners
To help ISVs in developing specialized solutions, SAP will provide individual support and a software development kit consisting of API 's (Application Programming Interfaces), sample code, development guidelines, and utilities. The toolbox has been designed to provide developers with an open platform to extend and interface with SAP Business One. The various interfaces (APIs) included in the software development kit will "open up" SAP Business One and allow professional developers access to business objects on a database and user interface level.
"We're making ISVs an integral part of the SAP Business One product strategy-an approach that has proven extremely successful in the development of the wide range of functionality in mySAP(TM) All-in-One," said Jurgen Kleinsteuber. "By contributing their creativity, knowledge, and in-depth understanding of the business-process needs of SMBs to SAP's thirty-year expertise of building reliable business solutions, our ISV partners will help ensure that SAP Business One is the most valuable offering in its class." SAP Business One and mySAP(TM) All-in-One comprise SAP Smart Business Solutions, SAP's comprehensive business solution offerings for small and midsize companies.
