CADRegister.com(R), an online resource provided by Thomas Register, will now be accessible from within PTC Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire(TM), product design and development software. The relationship expands product designer access to millions of CADRegister's computer-aided design drawings and models, helping engineers and designers increase the speed of the product development process.

Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire is the new version of PTC's industry-leading product design and development software and a key component of the company's breakthrough integral product development system. CADRegister is an online library of millions of CAD 2-D drawings and 3-D models, with technical data from over 250 leading manufacturers.

The next generation portal will provide product designers with native Pro/ENGINEER models based on PTC's Granite One(TM) interoperability kernel. To support this initiative, Thomas Register has licensed Granite. The portal features a seamless drag and drop integration, leveraging the Web services supported by Wildfire. It also helps users reduce the amount of time they spend searching for standard component data or creating standard components for their product models.

"Engineering designs consist of a large number of standard and custom parts obtained from many different part manufacturers," said Jim Heppelmann, chief product officer and executive vice president, Software Solutions at PTC. "The Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire portal sets a new standard for ease-of-use and speed-of-access by directly linking to one of the largest sources of manufacturers' models in the world."

"This partnership sets a new standard for linking manufacturers' CAD drawings and models into a design engineering application," said Erik Mikisch, vice president, Integrated Marketing, of Thomas Register. "The new relationship will also expand the reach of manufacturers listed on CADRegister to more than 250,000 potential customers via Pro/ENGINEER's install base."

The component portal can be found on the PTC 'Catalog Directory' at http://catalogs.ptc.com/ or through Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire.
