CARY, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 2003--Engineous Software,
provider of integration, automation, and design optimization software,
and related strategic services, announced today the availability of a
new eCOURSE class, Six Sigma in the Design Process.
The online event, co-sponsored by HP, will focus on using Design
for Six Sigma to improve productivity and product quality.
"Many companies' Six Sigma strategies are focused on identifying
and measuring problems in the manufacturing phase of their products,"
said Janet C. Wylie, Engineous CEO. "It can be incredibly expensive,
however, to address these problems during manufacturing or later.
Design for Six Sigma implements a quality strategy, early in the
design process, where companies can improve product quality and avoid
costly missteps that may be discovered later in the product
"We work with a wide variety of manufacturing companies and often
hear they are disappointed with their current tools, therefore not
getting what they expected from their Six Sigma programs," said Lynn
Lewis of Hewlett-Packard. "The content of this course provides the
beginning to a successful implementation of the Six Sigma process."
Six Sigma in the Design Process is designed for engineers solving
problems on the "front line," and it is informative for managers and
executives who are tasked with improving productivity and quality. The
course illustrates how to use Design for Six Sigma strategies, and how
companies can enhance the performance and quality of their products.
The course is offered in two online sessions. Attendees choose:
Session 1 - March 10 or 11, Session 2 - March 12 or 13.
