At the EuroMold 2008, rims programmed with hyperMILL® to be 'Bobby Car® compatible' have been milled in real time at the CNC Arena stand. ALZMETALL GmbH, DR. JOHANNES HEIDENHAIN GmbH, FRANKEN GmbH & Co. KG, HAINBUCH GMBH Spannende Technik and OPEN MIND Technologies AG participated in this year's EuroMold trade fair under the banner "Faster machining with optimised processes". Visitors had the opportunity to see the hyperMILL® CAM solution with its 2D, 3D, HSC, mill turn and 5axis strategies in action as it performs milling operations with impressive surface quality and low machine runtime.
The CNC Arena, an independent Internet platform for cutting technology, and its partners set up a 112 m² exhibition stand to demonstrate how efficient processes ranging from development to the finished product can be implemented. Rims programmed with hyperMILL® were milled on an Alzmetall GS 1000/5. These sporty light-alloy rims were used to make special limited-edition models of Bobby Cars®. The four-time world champion in Bobby Car® racing, Raimond 'Ray' Oppel, has been a guest at the CNC Arena stand.
hyperMILL® for comprehensive CAM programming
The CNC Arena stand demonstrates how the CAM system, as the link between design and production, plays a major role in devising rational and optimised processes. hyperMILL®, the CAM system of OPEN MIND Technologies AG, allows users to implement a continuous process chain with seamless workflows and optimised machine runtimes.
With its innovative milling technologies, hyperMILL® can be used to efficiently machine a wide variety of moulds. To achieve the high-quality results of the intricate rims at the EuroMold, this software solution contains functions such as swarf cutting: convex side surfaces are machined through tangential swarf cutting with point milling. Compared to line cutting with ball mills, milling conditions are superior and a better surface quality is achieved. Arbitrary stock roughing: thanks to stock tracking, only those areas are milled where there is material still to be removed. The strategy is therefore suitable for rest machining as well. Equidistant finishing: hyperMILL® offers a range of finishing strategies to adapt the machining job to the given requirements. A wide range of surface requirements can be met as a result.
