IDe Solution for Integrated Product Development Management Selected by Donaldson Company

CONCORD, Mass., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated Development Enterprise, Inc. (IDe), the leading provider of Development Chain Management (DCM) software for integrated product development, announced today that Donaldson Company, Inc., has selected IDweb software to integrate and streamline management of the company's product development process. Donaldson, a global developer and manufacturer of filtration systems and replacement parts, has licensed the software to integrate key product development functions, including time tracking, portfolio, project, process, and resource management. Roll-out of the software, both in terms of adoption by Donaldson business units and implementation of additional software features, will take place during a multi-year implementation. Immediately, the 12 business units located on Donaldson's Bloomington, Minn. campus, and the 17 dedicated and shared engineering groups supporting them, will begin using the software to integrate and manage product development activities. Ultimately, the company will implement the software for all product development organizations and activities worldwide.

Donaldson is also implementing IDe's time tracking solution, becoming the first customer to take advantage of the recent partnership whereby IDe is integrating technology from Journyx, Inc., of Austin, Texas. Journyx Timesheet functionality will be available for use with IDweb in Q4, 2001, and will allow companies to track actual time invested in product development against budget plans.

The most comprehensive DCM solution available, IDweb is the first to capture, reconcile and make accessible -- in an integrated application suite - - information from the key management functions of the product development chain, including portfolio, resource, project, financial, partner, and process management. IDweb's unique ability to reconcile and align top-down business strategy with bottom-up project details, across multiple development portfolios, allows corporations to more fully exploit market windows, reduce wasted effort and time to market, and gain competitive advantage by improving productivity, predictability, throughput, and organizational excellence in development efforts.

"Each business unit and engineering group is maintaining its own systems not only for time tracking, but also for project, process, resource and portfolio management," said Paul Kojetin, director of computer-aided engineering, analysis and test at Donaldson. "That's five different systems per group, times 17 groups, on just one campus. Standardizing on IDweb allows us to integrate best practices across business units and throughout the process, greatly enhancing our worldwide corporate collaboration in product development, improving our product portfolios, and reducing time to market." The company also plans to benefit from more optimized product development decisions, more effective work plans and resource allocation, better definition of responsibilities and schedule goals, and reduction of paper- based and training-intensive systems.

"Donaldson's stature as a global producer and supplier of filtration systems for both industrial and engine uses makes them a perfect company to benefit from IDweb," said Rich Moore, president and CEO of IDe. "They have a wide range of product portfolios to manage and as an original equipment manufacturer, they provide their products to many demanding customers. IDweb will help Donaldson to manage their product development process to the highest levels of excellence, which is their goal."
