Spatial Announces Release of New Products, 3D InterOp Exchange and 3D Viz Exchange

New Products Demonstrate Spatial's Commitment to Targeted Interoperability Solutions

WESTMINSTER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 1, 2002-- Spatial Corp., a market-leading provider of 3D development technologies, today announced the release of two new products, 3D InterOp Exchange and 3D Viz Exchange.

Designed to provide the tools necessary to read and/or write standard and key 3D formats into any application, InterOp Exchange is a component that also provides healing and repair functionality to improve overall data quality. Viz Exchange is a component that provides functionality specific to the needs of the visualization market such as the use of full solid b-rep data for measurement, faceting and mockup, as well as the ability to read and/or write standard 3D formats.

Released as separate components within Spatial's InterOp product line, InterOp Exchange and Viz Exchange are the first examples of Spatial's commitment to deliver vertically targeted interoperability solutions. InterOp Exchange provides developers with an interoperability platform solution for non-ACIS based environments that includes the ability to read and write SAT and SAB files, and delivers data healing and repair functionality in conjunction with a "plug-and-play" architecture for utilizing the full line of Spatial's InterOp translators. Viz Exchange offers specific capabilities important to the visualization, simulation and mockup industries while also providing the ability to capitalize on Spatial's InterOp translators. These latest releases are a precursor to future products that will be targeted to specific market segments.

"Spatial has spent the past eighteen months working closely with our partner base, a diverse group that spans more than thirteen market segments. During this time we have listened closely to our partners feedback and developed solutions that address their need for common interoperability while at the same time delivering valuable, market-specific functionality," said Keith Mountain, vice president, marketing, Spatial. "This is a model that will allow us to deliver targeted solutions to additional markets while further strengthening our interoperability offering."

"Our goal with these products is to allow our partners flexibility in their selection of components," said Rex Sellentine, product manager, InterOp and Visualization product lines, Spatial. "InterOp Exchange is a targeted packaging of our interoperability technology that provides a full solution for non-modeler based segments of our market. Specifically, this means that non-ACIS and non-modeler based developers interested in offering their applications with a complete or partial set of translation capabilities can now do so. Viz Exchange goes further and incorporates specific capabilities for our partners with applications aimed toward the visualization industry. In fact, combining Viz Exchange with Tech Soft America's HOOPS products can provide a complete visualization solution."

About InterOp Exchange

3D InterOp Exchange provides an interoperability solution for the entire market by allowing translation directly into any application, independent of a specific geometric modeler.

Developed with a "plug-and-play" architecture that allows rapid implementation and expansion, new translators can be added into an application at any time, quickly and efficiently.

InterOp Exchange goes beyond exchanging data from Spatial's InterOp Translators into applications by including healing capabilities that remove imperfections in incoming data. Any company that needs geometry, topology and attributal data from various data sources will benefit from 3D InterOp Exchange.

Available 3D InterOp Translators:

3D CATIA V5 Reader
3D CATIA V5 Writer
3D CATIA V5 Reader/Writer
3D CATIA V4 Reader/Writer
3D Pro/E Reader
3D PS Reader
3D ACIS Reader/Writer
STEP Reader/Writer
IGES Reader/Writer
VDA-FS Reader/Writer

About Viz Exchange

3D Viz Exchange provides access to an extensible, "plug-and-play" architecture for easy and efficient implementation of Spatial's 3D InterOp translators. In addition Viz Exchange delivers functionality designed specifically for the visualization market, including the use of full solid b-rep and attributal data for functionality such as measurement, faceting, slicing, and mock-up. Using Spatial's 3D InterOp Translators to communicate with any 3D application, Viz Exchange converts the data into a visualization-rich format. The InterOp Exchange APIs allow you to easily gain full access to capabilities delivered within the translators as well as visualization functionality.
