Cambric Corporation Successfully Completes Project for Boeing Satellite Systems

Draper, Utah
June 17, 2002

Cambric Corporation, the leading “Digital Engineering Services Provider” for CAD data creation and migration today announced the successful completion of a conversion project for Boeing Satellite Systems (BSS).

Cambric converted 350 structural component files from CADDS5 to Pro/E. BSS sought outside help in order to meet an aggressive deadline that would allow them to make engineering changes to the data in a Pro/E format. Five vendors competed for the project. Cambric Corporation was awarded the work because of proven experience in Pro/E, an understanding of Boeing processes from past work done with the company, and an established specification process, which added future value for rework.

The project, which is proprietary in nature, was completed in Cambric's domestic production facility and was delivered to Boeing Satellite Systems 3 weeks ahead of schedule. This collapsed timeline allowed Cambric to provide further value through consulting work with BSS employees on how to make engineering changes to the models in Pro/E.

Karl Robinson, a Project Manager who worked on CMIS said that Cambric added value to Boeing Satellite Systems' plan to convert their legacy data to Pro/E. "By using a 'top-down skeleton' model we have enabled BSS to have multiple users making engineering changes to the same data without affecting the top model."

"We were very pleased with the service we received from Cambric," said Ron Reekers, CMIS Mechanical Responsible Engineering Authority (REA). "The models we received came in without any problems and the management of the program was responsive to our concerns and requests. Cambric's strong CADD knowledge and willingness to adapt to our needs, was instrumental in giving us the CV model to ProE model conversion in a timely and qualitative manner. We enjoyed meeting and working with the Cambric personnel."
