Flexible Tango Material Speeds Design Cycle by Expanding Mechanical Properties of PrototypesMINNEAPOLIS—(BUSINESS WIRE)—April 26, 2006— RedEye RPM, the world's largest rapid prototype and part-building service, today introduced a line of photo-polymer modeling materials with rubber-like properties.
The material line, called FullCure(TM) Tango, offers customers soft, pliable prototypes or end products in two durometers, broadening the spectrum of mechanical properties available in the prototypes and parts from RedEye RPM.(TM) RedEye RPM is a business group of Stratasys (NASDAQ: SSYS).
Tango is expected to be of interest to manufacturers of products with pliable features, such as tires, toys, shoes, gaskets, keypads, over-molding, and flexible automobile trim components.
Because the materials have a feel similar to rubber or silicone, they can stretch to mate with other components. The Tango line includes TangoBlack(TM) and TangoGray,(TM) both which offer high elongation at break. TangoBlack provides maximum elasticity with a hardness of 61 Shore A. TangoGray is a slightly harder, but still flexible material, with a hardness of 75 Shore A, providing more controlled flexibility and elasticity.
"The availability of Tango offers customers a new material with excellent rubber-like characteristics," says RedEye RPM director Eric Lindberg. "Designers will appreciate the look, feel, and performance of this flexible material."

Stratasys Inc., Minneapolis, makes rapid manufacturing and prototyping systems and 3D printers, and it offers prototyping and manufacturing services. Stratasys equipment is used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, defense, medical, and consumer products. In 2004, the company installed 36 percent of all systems sold worldwide, making it the unit market leader for the third consecutive year, according to Wohlers Report 2005. Stratasys patented the rapid prototyping process known as fused deposition modeling (FDM(R)). The process creates functional models directly from any 3D CAD program using ABS plastic, polycarbonate, PPSF or other materials. The company holds 175 granted or pending global prototyping patents. In addition to manufacturing products, Stratasys is the exclusive North American distributor of PolyJet rapid prototyping systems and Arcam rapid manufacturing and prototyping systems.
