Focus Inspection 8.1 now automates the inspection process by running user-recorded macro’s or part programs. These macro’s are typically used to inspect multiple parts from an existing part database. The easy-to-use editor allows the user to adapt the automation process by varying or fine-tuning the process parameters.
A second important novelty in Focus Inspection 8.1 is the Turbine Blade Inspection module. This optional module has been developed in close cooperation with key turbine blade manufacturers and focuses on the inspection of typical turbine blade features such as maximum thickness, chordal length, trailing edge thickness and leading/trailing edge angles. Typical results such as bow, displacement, twist, and displacement factors are reported in user adaptable alignment and section reports.
Focus Inspection makes your inspection task easier and more productive. The unique user interface, composed of different worksheets, is easily customizable to reflect the inspection workflow. In this way the user is guided step by step through his inspection workflow. A typical workflow consists of importing the CAD and point cloud, meshing the point cloud, aligning, comparing to CAD, sectioning and reporting. Each step in the workflow contains its own dedicated set of toolbars with intuitive user icons. This adaptive way of working reduces training costs and enables proper handling by any user profile. The Focus platform, based on the latest ACIS® kernel, brings improved speed, pointcloud handling and data quality. This new kernel also improves the existing CAD importers, and now also supports direct interfaces to CATIA V4 / V5 and Pro/E files.
Focus Inspection 8.1 also introduces many novelties and improved functionality. The feature functionality is now completed with feature detection and inspection tools for points, hole, slot, cylinder, sphere, cone, plane. The alignment tools are extended with 2D best fit for sections, typically used in turbine blade applications.
The part-to-CAD compare functionality now also supports directional compare, allowing the user to perform virtual CMM measurements on the object. Other new functionalities, particularly used in sheet metal analysis are wall thickness and edge comparison.
The reporting module now also features GD&T annotation, parameterized dimensioning in automation and improved gap & step dimensioning. To enhance readability for detailed reporting, Focus inspection features large format print-outs.
