LMS Virtual.Lab Helps China's First Aircraft Institute Develop New Regional Jet

Leuven, Belgium - December 5, 2005 - LMS International, the engineering
innovation company, announced today that the First Aircraft Institute (FAI)
of AVIC-1, a leading aerospace research institute in China, has deployed
multiple licenses of LMS Virtual.Lab to support the development of the
Advanced Regional Jet Program, ARJ21. Developed by FAI to meet China's
growing need for air transportation, the ARJ21 will accommodate up to 100
passengers and will be available in freight, business jet, stretch and
extended-range versions.

FAI recently deployed the LMS Virtual.Lab simulation suite to support the
design and engineering of the aircraft body and the landing gear system. The
software solutions being implemented by FAI include LMS Virtual.Lab
Structures for finite-element pre- and post-processing driving external
solvers such as Nastran, LMS Virtual.Lab Motion for the dynamic performance
simulation of components and subsystems, LMS Virtual.Lab Acoustics for the
analysis of interior and exterior noise, and LMS Virtual.Lab Optimization
for the automated evaluation of design alternatives.

Through their experience with the LMS Virtual.lab software, FAI designers
and engineers strongly valued the tight integration of the different
applications in one single user environment. Until now, simulation was
performed with stand-alone programs, involving considerable time and effort
spent on transferring data and models between software packages and
reworking simulation models. LMS Virtual.Lab streamlines the different
simulation tasks, which enhances the reliability and accuracy of simulation
results and increases the efficiency of the overall process flow at FAI.

Throughout the aircraft development program, FAI also expects to strongly
benefit from the seamless integration between LMS Virtual.Lab and CATIA V5,
which is used in the aircraft design process. This integration allows FAI
development engineers to perform a complete range of analysis tasks in the
same user environment, starting from the initial CAD model. Through these
capabilities, designers can now easily and reliably perform simulations on
individual component designs. This enables them to identify and correct
potential problems, explore alternatives and optimize their designs early in
the development process.

"Through the deployment of LMS Virtual.Lab, designers now find it quite easy
and efficient to perform component analysis in their well-known CATIA V5
user environment without the systematic involvement of analysis
specialists." explains Dr. Ning Zhen Bo, Vice President of Engineering at
FAI. "Although LMS Virtual.lab was only introduced a year ago, we already
noted significant time gains in the interaction between CAD design and the
different simulation disciplines. This allows us to perform more design
iterations, optimize our designs much earlier in the process, and greatly
shorten the overall development cycle."

"We are pleased to welcome FAI into the growing community of leading-edge
companies integrating LMS Virtual.Lab into their critical product
development programs," says Willy Bakkers, LMS Executive Vice President and
General Manager of the CAE Division. "FAI's decision to invest in LMS
Virtual.Lab demonstrates the technical merit and business value of the
solution and confirms that our simulation offering is closely aligned with
the stringent performance simulation requirements of mission-critical
aerospace systems."
