Tech Soft America Component Accelerates Release of Another Innovative SolidWorks Product
OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 21, 2002--Tech Soft America (TSA), a leading provider of component technology to the CAD/CAM/CAE industry, today announced a technology licensing agreement whereby SolidWorks Corporation, a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use 3D CAD software, has incorporated the HOOPS® Net Server (HOOPS/Net) component into the recently released 3D TeamWorks product. This latest licensing partnership expands on SolidWorks' use of the HOOPS 3D Application Framework and HOOPS Stream Toolkits as key components within SolidWorks' award winning eDrawings 2.0 application.
"Choosing HOOPS/Net to power the collaborative view/mark-up capabilities has enabled us to quickly deliver a sophisticated solution within 3D TeamWorks," said Austin O'Malley, vice president of Internet Product Development for SolidWorks Corp. "TSA has been an excellent business and technology partner, and incorporating their latest component product was a natural extension to our relationship."
"We are pleased that a recognized leader such as SolidWorks is the first company to ship a product with our new HOOPS/Net component. We believe the 3D TeamWorks product is an outstanding demonstration of how HOOPS/Net can help developers add sophisticated collaboration to their products. We're excited to play a part in the successful launch of another SolidWorks product," added Ron Fritz, managing partner for TSA.
3D TeamWorks is a new Web-based environment that enables design teams to review and troubleshoot designs over the Internet in real time. 3D TeamWorks is the first affordable Web-based environment that enables product development team collaboration and real-time design reviews with minimal network bandwidth utilization and without costly software installations on users' PCs. 3D TeamWorks is being offered as part of the new SolidWorks Collaboration Edition. SolidWorks Collaboration Edition combines SolidWorks' world leading 3D CAD package with collaboration tools that together will dramatically improve product time to market.
HOOPS Net Server -- HOOPS/Net is a client/server framework component that greatly facilitates the development of client/server applications, particularly those with real-time collaborative functionality. HOOPS/Net encapsulates much of the challenging communication synchronization, session management, protocol support and network reliability technology developers would otherwise need to re-invent on their own. SolidWorks® software utilizes HOOPS/Net to add powerful real-time collaborative functionality to 3D TeamWorks, enabling multiple users to simultaneously view, annotate and mark-up 2D and 3D models in real-time and manage collaborative sessions.
