Comprehensive Model Based Definition (MBD) Support
With TransMagic, you can view or capture critical manufacturing information in 3D form. TransMagic R11 introduces a new PMI toolset to facilitate working with metadata within 3D models. The new PMI Browser lets you quickly review different scenes containing metadata and interrogate the associativity of each. Additional views can be created, captured or exported for clear communication across channels and downstream in presentations and design reviews. When semantic PMI is selected in TransMagic, the corresponding geometry highlights to confirm association. TransMagic can save PMI into any 3D format, even STL and OBJ.
Virtual Mock-up Tools: Precise Positioning, Assembly Tree Manipulation
The new Precise Positioning functionality allows easy and accurate placement of parts in an assembly. Many alignment features in the toolset make it simple to position and align parts exactly where needed in 3D space. Create a new assembly by importing parts, in multiple formats, into a blank assembly. Scale parts to the required size, place them and save the entire digital mock-up in any 3D format. Using TransMagic, prepare digital mock-ups or virtual prototypes with rapid precision. The new Dynamic Dimensioning and Micrometer can accelerate any kind of manufacturing measurements or design mock-ups for estimating, packaging and rapid prototyping.

New assembly management tools help navigate through increasingly complex 3D CAD data structures. Now you can Open parts in a New Document to work outside the complexity of the assembly. When finished, a single click will return the modified part back into the original assembly model. The new Assembly Browser provides additional tools to find, view and even reorganize assembly hierarchy for downstream use. The new View Browser creates a catalog of standard and custom views that can be captured or exported for presentation and design reviews. The new features for part positioning, view capture, assembly management and dimensioning, make TransMagic a true multi-CAD digital mock-up application.
New CAD Formats and Versions
R11 introduces support for new 3D formats including:
- 3D PDF
- Solid Edge
- STEP AP 242
- JT config file
In addition, R11 includes updated version support for all the major CAD formats including ACIS, CATIA V5, CATIA V6, DWG, HSF, IGES, JT, Autodesk Inventor, NGRAIN, Parasolid, Pro/E, Creo, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, STEP, TransMagic and NX UG.
TransMagic now supports the ‘JT config file’ used by automotive OEM’s to deliver JT models to exacting specifications. The TransMagic format, TMR, supports new features such as view capture and PMI. Use TMR as an archive format to save the state of a CAD model, including PMI and captured views.
