MOORPARK, CA – February 9, 2004 – Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM®, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software for programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, and MachineWorks, Ltd., supplier of simulation and verification solutions (Sheffield, UK), announced today that a licensing agreement has been established between the two companies allowing MachineWorks® process simulation and visualization technology to be integrated into GibbsCAM. Work is currently underway on the integration which is expected to be released in a version of GibbsCAM later this year.

"With our proprietary Cut Part Rendering capability, Gibbs was a pioneer in integrated process simulation for PC CAM," states Bill Gibbs, president and founder of Gibbs and Associates. "But today, MachineWorks offers us the best way to provide the latest cutting edge solutions in simulation technology to our customers, and this is our goal."

GibbsCAM's new MachineWorks-enabled capabilities include dynamic rotation and zooming, cut part/finished part comparisons, transparent cut part viewing, moving part simulation, and cut part material as initial stock conditions.

"GibbsCAM was clearly an early innovator in process visualization," comments Mike Nicholson, International Business Manager of MachineWorks. "We are pleased that Gibbs has decided to rely upon MachineWorks' expertise to provide this capability for GibbsCAM customers and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship."

MachineWorks will also be used as a key component technology for a new Machine Simulation option for GibbsCAM. Using this option, machine tools can be accurately modeled and then the motions of a CNC program can be simulated to check for collisions prior to running it on the actual machine tool. A simulation of the part cutting will also be displayed in Machine Simulation. Machine tool interference is becoming more and more critical as the complexity of machine tools increases. Early previews of the GibbsCAM/MachineWorks integration will be first shown at the upcoming WESTEC 2004 conference held on March 22nd-25th, 2004 in Los Angeles, CA.
